• Can my team see all the tabs I open?

  No. The tabs you have open are not shared with others. It behaves just like traditional browsers. The difference is that if your teammate is actively working on a tab and you happen to open the same tab, their icon will appear on the tab.

  It's like Google Docs, but you don't have to be active on the tab to see presence. The presence feature is now on one layer above, at the browser level.

  To dive into more intentional collaboration, you can invite your teammate to Shared Window. In this window, all the participants can see all the open tabs.

• Do I have to switch my browser to Tabl?

  No. We want you to keep your current browser as a default and treat Tabl as a secondary. Use Tabl for business and Chrome for personal, just like you use Slack for business and WhatsApp for personal.

  In this way, you can switch the context clearly, stop worrying about mixing up profiles, and switch single-player and multi-player easily. In fact, based on our user interviews, more than half of users already use multiple browsers for different use cases.

• What is Switch Control? How is it different from Remote Control?

  Remote control puts you in someone else’s machine—and that’s rarely a comfortable experience. Slack Huddles once had it, but dropped the feature due to low usage and complexity.

  Switch control, instead, lets you take the shared tab, open it in your own view, and take over smoothly—while keeping everyone on the same page.

  With Shared Window, anyone can take control without permission. This is the most robust and least invasive way to pass the control.

• Why not make Tabl as an extension for other browsers?

  There are 2 main reasons.

  • Browser extensions can only control limited parts of the browser. Tabl needs deeper control than that. Building a complete browser was the only way to deliver this multi-player experience.
  • We want you to keep your current browser as a default and treat Tabl as a secondary. Adding multi-player experience in your personal browser was not a use case we wanted to pursue. More on the question above.

• Do I have to connect my apps to use Tabl?

  No setup required. Just open any pages on Tabl. Out of the box, you can turn them to multi-player experience.

• How does Tabl manage my privacy?

  All your cookies and passwords are stored locally and never on our server. Our business model is around selling collaboration services and enterprise features, not ads.

  Tabl sees the active page URL to visualize user presence on tabs. The URL is hashed so nobody can read it.
